Continue reading below for help on how to select the correct size dumpster for your projects needs.

Consider the Type of Project

Sometimes you can get a sense for the size that you’ll need simply by the type of project you’re working on. If you have yard waste debris that can be compressed easily, you can most likely get by with a smaller dumpster like a 10 or 15 yard.

If you’re doing a large kitchen remodel, you’ll have much more debris that isn’t easily compressed. For this type of project you may want to consider renting a 20 or 30 yard dumpster, depending on the size of your kitchen. For full home remodels you’ll more than likely need a 30 or 40 yard dumpster.

10-yard dumpster

If you’re lacking space, don’t stress! The 10 yard dumpster only takes the space of a single car in an average size driveway. The 10-yard dumpster is just the right size for those smaller projects, including cleaning out a small apartment, or removing some tiles / shingles from the roof. If the materials you are discarding can be flattened, compressed, or don’t take up much space then the 10 yard dumpster is the right choice. Additionally, the 10 yard dumpster isn’t as tall as others, making it easier to toss things in.

20-yard dumpster

The next size up is our 20 yard dumpster. This dumpster is mainly used for larger household renovations such as cleaning out basements, attics and remodeling more than 1 room in a home. If you’re planning on removing carpet from multiple rooms in your home, or discarding furniture from multiple rooms this dumpster will be right for you. Additionally, these dumpsters typically come with a latched door, making it easy to fill.

30-yard dumpster

Going into the larger size dumpsters available for rent, the 30 yard dumpster. These dumpsters are typically rented for middle to large size homes that are doing major renovations such as adding an addition or major home remodeling. If you have a medium to large size home that you plan on refacing the siding of, replacing the roof or tearing down a garage, you’ll want a 30 yard dumpster onsite. These dumpsters also come with a latched door, so filling them won’t be any trouble!

40-yard dumpster

Our largest size dumpster is the 40 yard dumpster. This dumpster can be found at homes doing major remodeling work, but typically are seen at building construction sites. Businesses typically rent a 40 yard dumpster because it is the only size that can handle major demolish debris.
